I don't understand how they came up with the ethnicity/regional categories..they almost seem random. it bothers me that i don't know how they got this information...like who says in Islam that those colors represent those nouns? how did they determine that?
like i said before ameers, this piece can be seen as an informational chart or an artwork. if you are looking at it through an informational perspective, then i have no clue how to "explain" any of the correlations between colors, nouns, categories, ethnicities, etc. but if you look at it as a STATEMENT of art, it promotes the unity within cultures.
the beauty is NOT in the details, for this one. the beauty, in contrary, is actually in looking at the big picture
the colors are too arbitrary to be an informational piece--they can vary in meaning and interpretation from person to person, which is what makes it art, and not information :)
I like this. Its absolutely ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteThe more information we are given, the more the colors balance out.
Visual, geometric, simple, unifying.

ReplyDeletewhy does a color have to represent those nouns?
ReplyDeleteI feel like you are just assuming it should.
ReplyDeletethat was how i interpreted the chart, "color #" represents "noun #" in "ethnic/regional classification" ...how did you interpret it?
ReplyDeleteThere is no color key. Therefore, your interpretation is based upon assumed knowledge and not objective knowledge.
ReplyDeleteok agreed, but I can't figure out another way to interpret it that makes sense to me...what information does it provide?
